Saman Rahmanian and Daniel Teran are using technology to keep offices clean.

Companies like Oscar and Kickstarter rely on the service to keep track of cleaning and office supplies, schedule cleanings by Managed by Q's "operators" and request a handyman.

It's all easily managed via an iPad that Managed by Q installs in its clients' offices.

It's taking a different approach to the on-demand model set by Uber: It hires operators as employees, offering health benefits and 401k plans.

The startup, which launched in 2013, has raised over $17 million. It's been operating in Chicago and New York City and launched in San Francisco last week to a waitlist of over 200 companies.

Teran, 26, and Rahmanian, 33, met while working at venture development firm prehype, which is now an investor in Q. They said the partners were formative mentors. "I learned how to become better at identifying problems and how to build sustainable businesses," said Rahmanian. -- S.O.
