The entry-level Amazon (AMZN) Kindle may not have all the bells and whistles of the back-lit, touch-friendly Kindle Paperwhite, but it's no slouch by any means. And considering the stripped-down original Kindle can be had for $49, that's a tradeoff that many are willing to make.
